This privacy policy outlines how Thiavas collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our cabinet panel calculation tool. We built Thiavas to simplify your material planning workflow, and we prioritize your privacy as much as we prioritize the accuracy of our panel split and waste margin calculations.
By using Thiavas, you agree to the practices outlined in this policy. We only collect data that is necessary to deliver, improve, and secure our service, and we never use your project data for purposes you have not explicitly consented to.
Information We Collect
Data You Voluntarily Provide
- Project calculation inputs: cabinet dimensions, shelf counts, custom material specifications, and project names you enter into the calculator
- Contact information: if you reach out to us via support email (privacy@thiavas.com) or submit feedback, we will collect your email address and any content you include in your message
- Cloud saved project data: if you choose to create an account and save your calculation projects to our cloud hosting, we will store all associated project data you choose to upload
Automatically Collected Data
Our core calculation features work entirely offline if you choose, and no data is transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly enable cloud features. When you do connect to our services, we may automatically collect:
- Anonymous usage data: frequency of use, feature adoption (e.g. how often users adjust cutting waste margins, common standard sheet size selections), and error reports to help us improve calculation accuracy
- Device and connection information: operating system, browser version, and IP address to maintain service security and optimize performance for your device
How We Use Your Information
- Deliver core functionality: process your dimension and shelf count inputs to generate accurate panel split calculations, cutting waste estimates, and standard sheet purchase quantity recommendations
- Improve our service: analyze anonymous usage patterns to identify common user needs, fix calculation errors, and add features requested by the woodworking community
- Respond to your requests: answer support queries, address feedback, and notify you of service updates if you have opted in to receive communications
- Maintain security: prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access to our service to protect all Thiavas users
Important note: We will never use your custom project design data or calculation results for marketing purposes, nor will we share your proprietary project specifications with third parties without your explicit written consent.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We work with trusted third-party vendors (cloud hosting providers, payment processors for premium features) who are contractually required to protect your data and only use it to deliver services to Thiavas
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by applicable legal process, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Thiavas, our users, or the general public
- With your consent: We will share your project data or contact information if you explicitly instruct us to do so (e.g. sharing a calculation result with a colleague or material supplier)
We do not sell any personal data or user project data to third parties for any reason.
Data Retention
- Local calculation data: Temporary project calculations that you do not save to the cloud are stored only on your device, and you may delete them at any time by clearing your app/browser storage
- Cloud saved projects: We retain your cloud-saved project data until you explicitly delete your account or individual projects, at which point all associated data is permanently erased from our servers within 30 days
- Support communications: We retain contact information and support messages for 12 months after your last interaction with us to resolve any follow-up issues, after which records are anonymized or deleted
- Anonymous usage data: Aggregated, non-identifiable usage data is retained for 24 months for product improvement purposes, after which it is aggregated into fully anonymous performance metrics
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access all personal data and project data we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data associated with your account
- Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated project data
- Withdraw any consent you previously provided for data processing
- Request a copy of all your stored project data in a machine-readable format
To exercise any of these rights, please send a request to our privacy team at privacy@thiavas.com. We will respond to all valid requests within 30 business days.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:
- End-to-end encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers
- AES-256 encryption for all stored cloud project data
- Regular security audits and vulnerability testing of our infrastructure
- Restricted access to user data, limited only to staff who require access to deliver support or maintain our service
While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, no electronic storage system or internet transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we continuously update our security practices to mitigate risk.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this privacy policy periodically to reflect changes to our service or applicable data practices. We will notify all active users of any material changes at least 30 days before the new policy takes effect, via in-app notification or email if you have provided your contact information.
Your continued use of Thiavas after the updated policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
